Overview

This is a clinical pathway for the management of IgA nephropathy (IgAN) and IgA vasculitis with nephritis (IgAVN) in children. This is a new pathway and is intended for the multidisciplinary team in pediatric nephrology (and rheumatology) services. It provides a structured guide to the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and follow-up of children with IgAN and IgAVN and is intended to reduce practice variation and harms associated with steroid therapy. Low-dose steroid protocols, along with targeted therapy is included. This pathway provides a structured guide to the assessment of risk factors of steroid toxicity and screening for steroid toxicity. It is also intended to improve documentation and data quality for routinely collected health data (charts).
