Overview

ACH PICU developed this summary sepsis algorithm in order to portray a more simultaneously multi-faceted approach to severe sepsis rather than the typical linear approach often taught. For example inotropes can be started before fluid resuscitation is complete if clinically indicated. Of note many stable septic shocks cases can be managed without intubation if there is no respiratory distress and the heart function is reasonably maintained. Arterial and central lines can be placed under ketamine sedation.
