Overview

The ACH Acute Stroke Protocol provides a structured approach for the rapid identification, assessment, and treatment of pediatric stroke patients. It includes immediate stroke screening, neuroprotective care, and urgent imaging (CT/CTA and MRI) to confirm diagnosis. Eligible patients may receive IV thrombolysis (tPA) within 4.5 hours or endovascular therapy (EVT) for large vessel occlusions beyond this window, which will require coordination with the ACH Team PCCTT to transport to FMC. Post-treatment, patients require PICU monitoring, strict neurological assessments, and follow-up imaging. Coordination between neurology, anesthesia, emergency medicine/critical care, and interventional teams (PCCTT) ensures timely intervention, optimizing outcomes for pediatric stroke patients.
