Overview
This document reviews different types of umbilical lines and how to perform an Umbilical Line Insertion procedure in the PICU. The procedure for effectively and safely inserting an umbilical catheter is one which is typically performed on infants less than 10 days old, and which can provide vascular access to aid in a multitude of medical interventions as per clinical best practice.
